I have been given black carpet for living room what colour should i paint the walls?

my room is med size and is currantly green %26amp; cream and i have just been given some new carpet i was told it was dark blue but its black not very good when it comes to decorating and have a very tight budget any ideas would be great xxxI have been given black carpet for living room what colour should i paint the walls?
I would go with a nice warm mocha color to soften the space. This would add more of a rustic feel to the space. If your more into the contemporary feel, I would go with a nice crisp white wall. If you like a modern look with a bit of warmth I would go with a nice sky blue. Not a baby blue something with a bit more depth. For a Tuscan feel you can go with a butter yellow. I would paint them an off white and accent your room with deep red. this will be great if you have a modern feel in your room. You could also be creative and again paint the walls a off white, and then tape off sections and paint those red for a stripe effect. Good luck.
Black would go with anything....A deep rich dark red....a vibrant gold, a coppery pumpkin-orange....ANYTHING but flat white!
Because of the floor now being very dark, I would try to lighten up the walls. If they are cream, or white, that would be great. Because they are the basics, you can add whatever other colours you want. Other primary colours would be best, though.

I would do super white walls. I am afraid anything other than that will make the room too dark.
I would do a light gray with a touch of brown(you can find this in the neutral section). It a modern color and won't be too dark but also it will be some color. It's also pretty neutral so you could add other colors into your decorating.
