Im renting, if i cant paint the walls, what can i do to add color to them?

Oh, you can paint the walls, you just have to paint them back to white before you leave. Hang curtains on them, colorful artwork or use color in the pillows and rug.Im renting, if i cant paint the walls, what can i do to add color to them?
Accessorize with art, shelving, candles, etc. Maybe even hang an old mirror or window (depending on your style). Try hanging fabric in different ways, or try a wallpaper waisncotting (bottom half of wall), even a wallpaper border. The best thing I found is at Michaels/Jo Anns or any craft store they have wallpaper cut outs, for about $7 you get about 20 small shapes (mine were wine bottles, glasses, etc) and all you have to do is soak them in water for a minute and then apply! When you get tired of them or find you placed one wrong you can just re wet them and take them down!Im renting, if i cant paint the walls, what can i do to add color to them?
If you can nail holes into your walls, I would hang a mirror up and have the outside greenery reflect the walls with natural beauty.
Buy some very colorful pictures to hang on the walls.
Posters, hang tapestries

Why can't you paint and then when you move out, paint it back to the original? Thats what I did, but I don't know if you're up to that.
Hang velvet curtains.
I would suggest Painting or Framed Pictures. You could also get lighting with different colored bulbs to accent the wall. You can also put some shelves up and put things on the shelves to jazz up the color. Add a wall clock and other decorations and before you know it....you will not even realize that it is just a white wall. You will get the hang of it once you move in and give it the moved in look. An empty apartment can be intimidating when you first move in. - Mark
I once hung a large colorful blanket on the wall with push pins. It was very decorative.
you could hang pictures or asymetrical shelves with different candles or exotic plants or even different cast iron wall decors with candles. you have a lot of options. Peace!
hang deep red sheets - go get a couple king sized sheets, and hang them along one whole wall, or any color, but the deep red would look great anywhere.

u can paint usually u just need to paint it back before u move..but who wants to do that...so another way is to create a neat wall with curtains, or any fabric at a fabric store, velvety etc...and do stripes coming down, maybe like a stage, or just anyway you like.
paintings, pictures, anything like that will work. get items that match your color preference and go to town. just remember not to over do it.
You can always paint the walls of an apartment but you must return them to the orginal color when you move out to avoid being charged for repainting. Now most apartments are painted when someone moves out so ask your leasing office to see if some lighter colors would be acceptable since they will re-paint anyway. Lighter colors may be acceptable because only one coat od paint would be needed to recover your paint and the painter won't charge extra for needing to apply several coats of paint.
Pictures so you can take them with you when you buy your own house. And paint them yourself! It's fun.
In some places you can paint as long as you paint it back before you move. But beware that if you don't paint it back they can charge you per room they have to repaint...something like $25.00 per room. If you don't want to do that you could hang curtains or sheets. Another trick that I have used before is to mix equal parts of water and starch and make kind of a paste...you can then hang fabrics on the wall like you would wall paper, except it doesn't leave any marks when you take it down.

If you aren't allowed to paint, find other ways to add color, texture and warmth to a space. Incorporate fabric, rugs, pillows, plants, mood lighting and movable objects like a wall screen.

Ciao!
There's lots of options, you don't have to limit it to just pictures. For example the LARGE chinese paper fans look awesome on walls, or hang other actual objects in a decorative fashion. People wont even notice the color of the wall.
color light bulbs..perfer purple bulbs cause it would show more colors on the wall.
Posters or paintings.
use fabric.
pictures or your own life projects.
you could get large curtains - and a dowel stick or large curtain rod - say you want red behind the black couch - you get red curtains and hang them up behind the couch ( even with no window there ) you could even separate the curtains in the middle and hang art work ( kind of like a window )

you could buy sheer fabric or dramatic colors and hang them across the ceiling - not straight down but kind of bubble like you pin at one corner and it sags a little bit then pin again and then cross with another color like your weaving two colors - and you pin again and so on and so forth ( think diamond tuck car interior _

consider getting a very large piece of sheet rock or something similar paint it the color you would want your walls - and fasten that to the wall you could attach artwork to that also - so it would give an illusion of a painted wall - possibly hanging drapes on either side
If you are artisitc, you can buy a cheap camera, take some pictures of things that interest you,or are colorful and frame them. Also, you can try a variety of different frames
Use color bulbs/ You can buy them at Wallmart, Piggly Wiggly and Winn Dixie. just to name a few .
wall paper, color your lightbulbs with markers...

close your eyes...
Add some art work, or something to make it yours and not too plain.
Tape up some pictures of your favorite bands and stuff
Get some large canvas's and paint them in bold random designs. Co-orinate with cushions picking out some of the colours you have used and accesorise with a lamp and rug. Beautiful and funky home here we come!.
If you go to Lowe's they have these things that you actually attach to the walls. They are like huge stickers that you can peel off and move around-they actually stick but don't damage the wall in any way. They have tons of colors and different shapes-stripes, polka dots, etc. You should check it out.
