Has anyone tea stained painted walls to give it an aged look? If so how did you go about doing it? I came across a website today that recommended doing this to get an aged look on painted walls, but it didn't give much detail into the process, besides to paint the walls an off white or light beige color and then wash the walls with tea.
So I guess I'm wondering...
Any certain tea better then the next?
Do I just wipe it on with a rag or brush it on and let dry or do I have to wipe it back off?
Should the walls be completely dry before applying the tea?
And anything else that would be helpful if you have already done this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!Tea Staining Painted Walls?
All I can tell you is don't do it.
Do a faux painting technique if you want the aged look. Tea staining is time consuming and messy.
I tea stained some fabric lampshades about 3 years ago. It took me 25 bags of green tea and I ended up staining all the clothes I was wearing at the time and a set of kitchen towels to clean up the mess. Thank God I did this in the kitchen and the floor wasn't damaged.Tea Staining Painted Walls?
i have been a professional decorative painter for over 13 years and ive never heard of such a technique. ( that certainly dosent mean it cant be done:)
but , i definately think you could achieve an aged look much easier using a glaze instead.
tea stained walls SOUND lovely, but really,i cant imagine the process would make much sense.
