I live in an apartment so painted the walls is not an option.
I though about picking a hardboard or mdf and painting it but the weight might be too much.
I have seen alot of people stretching black cloth on a frame with the cloth side facing the projector. It would make sense to me as the rubberside on the back would reflect the light back to the projector and the cloth would diffuse.
I only need a 72'; screen as we sit about 7-8 feet away.
I thought about a manual screen, but I don't want to deal with wrinkles or movement. And I am trying to keep it under $100.Has anyone had any luck building a projection screen with blackout cloth? I can't use painted walls.?
I didn't even bother with blackout cloth. I bought the projection fabric here:
www.dazian.com
Then I nailed some wooden slats about 4'; wide and 1/4'; thick to the wall. I then stretched the fabric tight and stapled it to the slats. Then I took some wood picture framing, painted it a nice glossy black and nailed the picture frame to the wooden slats therefore ';framing'; my screen.

We went down to Lowes and got something called ';White Polywall';...They sell it in 4 x 8 foot sheets...It's only a couple of millimeters thick...One side is textured and one side is smooth...(use the smooth side)...It costs about $10 - $20...You'll find it near the drywall section.
Maybe this will help you.
