Read the instructions on the can and talk with the salesperson in the paint department. How long does paint take to dry on walls?
it always depends on the humidity. Leaving the windows open.. having fans while u paint.. that will help a lot. But I hope where ever u live the humidity won't b high b/c that will prolong it to dry faster. Now as far as the posters.. or ANYTHING on the walls... make sure that if u touch th walls ..they r NOT sticky. Make sure all over... then u can put something up but if they r... keep those fans on them
Other than that.. u should b good 2 go %26amp; ready 4 u'r friends. (y rn't they helping u? :) )
That will do it fine. The paint will be dry. It will take a while longer for the smell to fade. But heck! Tell them you wanted the place to look good for them, and you painted. They will love you for it.
The paint can will tell you about drying time and when it would be safe to touch. In general, latex paints are good and dry in 2 hours, oil-based paints require several hours. The humidity is more important than the temperature or whether it is sunny or not. An open window is important for fumes and drying time both. Be careful that the fans don't blow dust or other things onto the drying paint.
Did you choose a waterbased paint? Those tend to dry the quickest. Plus, they're the safer, more environmentally friendly choice. And they're healthier paints for you and your friends, too! Especially if you plan to use the room again right away.
Here's a great brand of waterbased paint, and they have a store locator on their site:

Flat paint dries the fastest. However, if you are trying to do it in one coat, I suggest using Kilz paint colors. They have great coverage, and you won't have to worry about putting 2-3 coats of paint on the wall. If the humidity is low, and the weather is warm then the conditions are more favorible to you, and yes, the fans are a bonus. Just be careful that the room is clear of dust and debris before you turn them on. Otherwise, you'll end up with texturized walls. :)
