What type of paint to use on bathroom walls?

The walls are not drywall, some type of particle board, and have never been painted, only wall papered. What type of paint to use on bathroom walls?
Since they have never been painted and from your description it is a type of particle board. I would first use a mold resistant primer/sealer, after that a mold resistant paint. I dont want to tell you any specific brands but I use KILZ paints and primersWhat type of paint to use on bathroom walls?
Kiltz is the best but, the fumes will kill you! Look for a water based primer!

I've heard of cement board used when someone is installing tile on the walls, but never particle board.

Anyway, to answer your question use mildew resistant latex paint in a satin, semi-gloss, or high-gloss finish. You can use flat, but I don't recommend it because it shows condensation drip marks.
you must use primer like kiltz first

do not skip this step

then a semi gloss eggshell or satin

never flat
You will have to make sure all the wallpaper paste is removed from the walls -- lightly sand. Then use an oil based primer to seal the walls. That will make sure that the paint will adhere to the walls and won't show any stains. Then use a water-based or oil based enamel (enamel shines) or washable semi-gloss. Go to J.C. Licht, Home Depot, Sears, Lowes, Menard's, Sherwin Williams, Ace Hardware, True Value, or any Hardware/Paint Store. Never be afraid to ask for advice from the paint department. Also, if you look in some of the home improvement magazines, there are always paint ads in them and there are always painting ideas. Make sure the paint you get is durable and is kitchen/bath specific.
Take off all the wallpaper, put on a primer-sealer and then use semi-gloss or gloss enamel.
Lead-based. It provides for snacking later when it starts to chip.
exterior paint. flat or satin. prime first
better go for light colors as dark colors show dust visible dirty v quickly
