My kitchen walls are covered with this plastic-board like material that is typically found in mobile homes. My house is stick built, so I'm not sure where they located this material. Anyhow, there are rips, color stains and holes from the previous owners wear and tear. I'd love to cover the walls in the most efficient, yet inexpensive method. I've considered wall paper, but the guy wanted nearly $1000 for the extremely small room (he said because he had to prime the walls with something and it has many nooks and crannies). I've considered paint as well, but the holes and rips will still show. Are there any other options? Are there people who can come out to assess? If so, who? I've called all of the wall paper places in the area and NOBODY does it anymore. Any suggestions?Need to paint or wall paper kitchen... need thoughts...?
You can paint it yourself and save big bucks! Go to home depot and ask them about a product to cover the holes maybe wood putty? They will find something for you and even explain to you how to use it. Then you buy a can of primer (it's just like paint) prime the area, when it dries, you can paint it. This will cost about 30 dollars. It's easier than you think!
Good luck!

I am painting my walls and need to know what color **READ DESCRIPTION?
Okay, I was originally going to create a *lounge* out of my moms old computer room but never did. Well I went into my room which i hadn't really entered since i was like really young (started sleeping downstairs) i never really like the way my room looked. Well i want to have my room have like red and black furniture with a red or black rug and stuff. I just don't know what color to paint my walls because it has to go good with red and black. red or black Walls is to much red and black lol and my mom wouldn't let me paint them red or black any way (to hard to paint over in case we end up ever HAVING to move out. so yeah HELP!!! lol :DI am painting my walls and need to know what color **READ DESCRIPTION?
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to help you imagine how the colors will look together. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. I think ';slate tile'; (# 7624) might be a good choice.
You can take a photo of your house %26amp; upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions %26amp; for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.I am painting my walls and need to know what color **READ DESCRIPTION?
Why don't you paint them a nice crisp white since you are going to have such bold accents and furniture? That way, you could put up some artwork or something and it will really pop on the white walls. If you have such strong colors for everything else, a darker wall color of any sort it just going to make the whole room overwhelming.
I also think a nice tan would look great. For example, Benjamin Moore's ';Sandy Brown.';internet

How much would it cost to paint 3,648 sq. ft. of smooth wall?
troy how can anyone answer that when you haven't told us where you live. the cost of paint and the cost of labour varies from place to place. you also do not mention if this is new drywall or has it been painted before and if so it will make a difference what colours you are covering. it may take more than 2 coatsHow much would it cost to paint 3,648 sq. ft. of smooth wall?

Cutting in paint on wall and ceiling.?
I am having a disagreement with my husband. He started to cut in the paint on the ceiling and wall. Then stops, the paint dries. He says it doesn't matter. I'll finish it when I want to. In the other bathroom where he did it it showed. He says it was due to poor paint. Granted the paint he is using today is a warm white over a cool white. But aren't you suppose to cut in and paint right away over the cut in? Or is it matter more when it is a difference in paint color?Cutting in paint on wall and ceiling.?
Hi. If flat paint is being used it might not show, any other sheen will show a difference in color if teh cutting is let to dry. I often double coat the cutting with the first coat being quite light. Leave a wet edge is a rule in painting which means paint into wet paint. It is always best to do the body of the painting while the cutting is still wet otherwise the dry part will act as an additional coat of paint and not blend in. I am not explaining this well but you are right. In a bathroom flat paint is not used, generally so any drying of the cutting will show up regardless of what brand or quality of paint is being used.Cutting in paint on wall and ceiling.?
Easy, people do not know that paint is a sealer. When you paint in one spot, it seals the spot and resists new paint, causing difference in sheen, texture and sometime color. I do handyman work on the side. Because I am an underpaid cop. I always blue tape and paint edges to about 1.5 to 2 inches. Then I take the brush and VERY GENTLY/ barely touching the paint with the end of the bristles and glide over to take out brush marks then grab the roller. Usually completing one wall at a time.
I have never found it to make any difference to the appearance of the final coat whether you cut in first or after, or stop partway through, as long as you get enough paint on the walls to cover properly which almost always means two coats, with roller and with brush. If you only do one coat, you're very likely to see where the cutting in was done because roller and brush leave slightly different texture which will be visible when one or the other doesn't cover well. I mean, if you're doing a big room there is no way in the world to do all the cutting in first or all the rolling first without having the paint dry somewhere before you get to the next step.
My stepdad and I painted my entire house, one room at a time. He used to be a professional painter with his father, and when he and I did it, we would cut in and paint without letting anything dry.
Instead of arguing about it, either help him or do it yourself.
Some people like to have one person cut, and the other roller.
Probably the previous paint was crap. 10 years ago I painted my walls red over white, 2 coats done. 2 years ago I painted my walls red again. 4 coats later, you can still see every single spot where I accidentally hit the walls with the ceiling paint.
and yes you are right- the answer was b****y.
YES ALWAYS KEEP A WET EDGE
LEAVE YOUR HUSBAND HE COULDNT RUN A BATH PMSL
I don't think the time difference will matter much as long as you blend in the paint around the area where it was previously cut in so the brush strokes aren't visible. Even that won't matter much on a ceiling. Once it's done you won't notice small imperfections.
Sounds like my husband and me when we work together. Home renovations are lethal to marriages!

Gray...a gray that it a shade or two lighter than the gray in the wallpaper.
Here's a good website about picking paint colors
http://interiordec.about.com/od/interior鈥?/a>What colour would i paint my walls if i used this wallpaper as a feature wall?
omg i LOVE damask style things but i would put a silver trim where the wall paper stops if your using it on the bottom of the wall, and if your using it on the top of the wall just make sure it has a nice transfer from wall paper to paint.
but i would deffinately tell the paint mixers to match the lighter shade of grey in the paper. or if you wanted make the paint even lighter than the light shade in the paper. for a silver look? thats awesome wall paper.
You're best bet is to stick to neutral colours such as soft creams and coffee colours, not only do they bring the newly painted room a fresh new look but they are also very forgiving in sense that if you have slight dents and bumbs in the walls you wont notice these defects as much.
I usually find that bold bright colours are very easy to get bored of or fed up with, you're better sticking with something less ';extreme'; as you'l find that you wont want to paint over it any time soon, therefor saving money.
Most new houses/buildings get painted with magnolia or another neutral colours because it brings out that ';fresh'; and ';new'; look, not only that but it also looks warm and inviting.
You really can't go wrong with neutral.
Raspberry, pink, coral, gray, or light aqua or purple would all work. It depends on the rest of the room. If it's in a bedroom, choose bedding that looks great with this paper first and then choose a wall color based on that.
Dear,
Pick a neutral shade in your wallpaper and you cannot miss.

I am splatter painting my walls.......
and i wanted to make it a red, black, and white theme. I was going to paint the walls white and then splatter paint ONE WALL red and black. im not sure if that would make the room too boring because only one wall is splatter painted. But, i dont want to do all walls splatter painted
also, i am puttin up picures and paintings on the white walls, so that might make it less boring
what is your opinion on my idea....... any other suggestions?I am splatter painting my walls.......
Just warning you in advance: don't think that you can drip your paint brush in the can and just splatter it. You'll need to water it down a good bit before you go flinging it all over the place.
It would also be a very good idea to splatter paint the one wall, THEN paint the other walls.
I don't think that it would be boring, I think that the splatter painted wall would be a good focus for the room.
If you get some good, colorful pictures for the white walls it'll be perfect. I hope I helped :]I am splatter painting my walls.......
If you have a small room you will only want to splatter paint one wall. You did not say which room you are painting. If you splatter one wall then that will be the focal point of your room. Red and Black paint are dark colors so if you do it in a small room your room will look smaller. What ever you put up on your white walls be sure to incorporate at least a little red and or black. You want the room to have a ';balance';. You might also try using a red or black area rug. Good luck
Its kinda funny, but I'm doing the exact same thing right now! =P Im going to do all of the walls in that, but maybe alternate the background on each, so maybe 1 wall white 1 wall black 2 walls red and then splatter accordingly.
Im gonna just take a brush and let it go crazy.
splatter two opposing walls, to make them symmetrical, if you really want to keep some walls white. However, it really would look better if all the walls were splattered. As long as the walls are painted symmetrically, the painting should have no effect on the aesthetic.
Sounds pretty cool. I would make two walls red and black splatter together, and leave 2 walls white. Sounds like fun. Hope this helps. Good luck with the project.
awesome idea.

Ok you color cordinated folks with beautifully painted walls....this ones for you...?
I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen...have added a pantry, mudded my walls and am fixing to paint. Here's my question. I also want to paint my cabinets. Should I paint the cabinets and walls the same color, with the doors a darker shade? Or....vice versa....the walls one color, the cabinets a different color and the doors to the cabinets same as wall. The color is called pony tail...its a lighter shade of tan...the other color is called sauted mushrooms....a darker shade of tan. Someone give me your advice please :)
smiles :)Ok you color cordinated folks with beautifully painted walls....this ones for you...?
You must be using pittsburgh paint.
I work for a pittsburgh paint store and see those colors a lot.
I would suggest painting the wall and the cabinets different colors to create depth.
If you have a smaller kitchen. Paint the walls pony tail and the cabinets sauted mushrooms. This allows your cabinets to pop and create depth without the space ';shrinking';
If you feel you have the extra room or want a bolder look on the wall, go the opposite way.
Those colors are actully not far away from each other. So either way should be fine. Just so you know...Pony tail tends to look lighter on the wall than on a swatch card sample.Ok you color cordinated folks with beautifully painted walls....this ones for you...?
only my oipinion but i think cabinets are more commonly excepted as being white- unless they are natural wood. so i would say paint the cabinets the lighter color. defintely not the same color!!!
No don't paint them both the same color please:) If your kitchen is large, paint the back walls the darker shade and your cabinets and doors the lighter shade.
If your kitchen is small, still stay on the pastel side for walls (keep the room open and airy), if your cabinets are much darker than your walls they will not blend in, they will appear to stand out further than what you had expected. Have you considered a 3rd color? I hope you are painting your ceilings white. Much cleaner look. Have fun, I've done it all, been there, done that :)
i'd paint the walls a lighter shade and the trim doors and cabinets the darker shade. I paint my walls and cabinets alot and have always been told i have knack for that so.........for what its worth
You can do any of the above. I would paint the walls darker and the cabinets lighter, but I don't know what you prefer. Go to your library to the decorating section. They have tons of books on kitchens. Take a look and see what kind of look you prefer and then go for it!

Anime picture to paint on wall??
I am repainting my room. I want to put a large anime painting on one of my walls. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I should paint on it. The background is going to be white, because it's easier to paint on. I'd appreciate a link so I can look at the picture. I'm a huge fan of anime so I' love the suggestions.Anime picture to paint on wall??
Well thats not very specific...if it was me, I'd think of my fave anime and then think of my fave character. LIke i really love Bleach. I would go online and find maybe a coloring page with all the characters on it or whatever, print it out, put the page on a little projector thingy and then trace the pic out onto the wall from the projected image. Then i'd color it in. But i cant really answer your question because there's so many anime cartoons/books out there noone has anyidea what you have in mind.Anime picture to paint on wall??
Youj might start out with a Yahoo images search of ';anime'; to get an idea about what type of characters you might like. If you are artistically inclined, you might freehand a sketch based on a picture that gives you inspiration, or project an image and trace.
There are a number of books that can help you learn to draw manga, for example

These sources should help give you some idea about what you would like and how to paint it.

I recently bought new couches, they are houseplant/palm green, I have no idea what color to paint my walls.?
My furniture is cherrywood with black accents. They couches look great with the furniture but I have no idea what color to paint the walls or what color scheme to decorate with to match with the couches... I wasn't thinking along those lines when I bought them because I just loved the color and didn't think about how difficult it would be a design around them. light colors always make a room lighter, maybe a beige or taupe. I would accent the furniture with art that mirrors the new furniture.I recently bought new couches, they are houseplant/palm green, I have no idea what color to paint my walls.?

I would go with neutrals - cream, tan, beige.

How do u get spray paint off of wooden walls?
theres lots of spraypaint in my room on the wooden walls. how do i get it off?How do u get spray paint off of wooden walls?
The Lowes answer may be correct, but have never tried it. Spray paint is different from brush on in that it permeates the wood fibers a little more, especially if it is sprayed on heavily.
Sanding can work, using large grit to begin with and moving to smaller grit paper, but how much you can get off depends on whether or not there are corners, grooves, etc. Steel wool with a paint remover may work as well, but be sure to wear rubber gloves when you do it.How do u get spray paint off of wooden walls?
Try the product called ';GOOF OFF' being it's a wall I'd %26amp; will run down try putting it on a white rag {dye will come out of colored] %26amp; rub. IT comes in spray %26amp; liquid at paint stores
Lowes sells paint remover that will safely remove paint from wood. It has citrus added to it.
I agree with the paint remover from Lowes or any hardware or paint store. They have all different types. Be sure you buy a product that is safe to use indoors or else you will need lots of vent elation. Be sure to get a product that will work with Oil based paint as most spray paint is oil based. Also get a paste or gel product that will stick to the wall. The liquid kind would not work as well on the wall. You also may need a wire brush or scraper to remove the paint once it starts to loosen up.

I want to paint the kitchen one color but do not have any walls or breaks that stop to have a different color into hallways or the office.
How do I do this?
Please look at pictures and tell me how to do this without adding molding to separate them.
Example: I want the office room maybe a dark green, and the kitchen egg shell white, and the hallway a different color.

After looking at your pictures, my best advice to you would be to paint in colors that are complementary to each other since you can see into one room from the other through those archways. The dark green and eggshell (or some other color of offwhite or taupe) would work well together. To make the transition between rooms paint each room in the desired color right up the the edges of the archways and doorways using painter's tape to make it a clean line. Then paint the inside of the archways with the lighter color to make the transition. In my opinion, this makes the transition much more appealing to the eye than using the darker color in the archway or a moulding. My friend and I did this in the transition between her living room and kitchen which are very open to each other with a half wall in between. Her living room is a dark brown and her kitchen is a light beige. It came out very well. Best of luck with your project!Need advice on painting running walls into other rooms?
Jennifer is right and with your arches it will look quite nice. You could coordinate your hall with a nice matching color that will go with both the kitchen and the office room. The prettiest dark green I have seen (I put it in my bedroom) is called Rosemary - its by Behr which Home Depot carries. This is such a saturated color that you can match alot with it. Look at the color card the Rosemary comes on and consider the lightest of those colors for the kitchen and the middle of those colors for the hallway. Good transitions all and quite attractive with your archways. Lots of work but well worth it.
If you go to your local home depo. they have color swatch books just for this. Make sure that your colors are complementary.

try home improvement store like lowe's or home depot or even a craft store for stencils and/or stickers. or you may want to hire a professional artist. How can I paint my sons walls to look like under water (spongebob theme)?
spong paint blues, white and light greens...add fish coral etc
Paint walls with an aqua marine color. I use Walmart color Blue lagoon. Cover the whole area with this color. Paint your sponge bob pictures over this. What gives you the under water look is the addition of bubbles. Water down white paint and float on in a circle. Hightlight one edge with pink or lavender to give it a irredecent look. You don't need alot of bubbles just a few here and there.
why dont you just get the garden hose and go for the real thing no just kidding you can go light blue and paint the bubbles on the wall light blackish circle with a blend of white in itor light blueish circle better yet and draw bubbles practice first in your bed room hahaha

What colour to paint my wall?
Hey guys,
I'm looking to paint my bedroom. We currently have a mix-match of furniture (white, oak veneer, and cream) and a duvet cover that is a blueish gray with stitching in the shape of leaves that is taupe in colour. The sheets match the stitching.
I'd like to have the wall the bed is on really stand out as I don't have a headboard. I was thinking jewel tones (I love purple and my bf has relented to let me paint ONE wall purple).
My current plan is light gray, almost steel coloured for 3 walls, and a deep almost eggplant purple for the wall at the head of the bed. Barring that, all 4 walls the gray and I buy some fabric and make a padded headboard.
Any suggestions??What colour to paint my wall?
Your paint idea is on target. I would finish the look and paint all the furniture black. This would pop with the gray walls. What colour to paint my wall?

How do you get greasy, waxy yellow run off of walls without taking off the paint too?
I live in an apartment. This is weird junk thay has accumulated in areas like around vents, the bathroom walls and in the kitchen some. It looks like theatre popcorn butter but is waxy and onthe hard side. The others have the same problem here and I think it maybe pollution related. I tried soapy water with bleach, but to no avail. How do you get greasy, waxy yellow run off of walls without taking off the paint too?

Try Mr.Clean Magic Eraser Duo! or The Original Magic Eraser.. They work wonders!! You can pick them up just about any Grocery Store or Walmart.
IF THIS IS CAUSED FROM GREASE AND SMOKE USE T.S.P.TRI SODIUM PHOSPHATE IN THE PAINT SECTION OF ANY HARDWARE STORE OR WALL MART - USE 1 TBLSP PER GALLON OF LUKE WARM WATER TO START IF NEEDED YOU CAN DOUBLE THIS UNTIL YOU GET RESULTS
The best household products that I have used is called Soilax and Lestoil.Alot of professioal painters wash down the walls with this before painting and it doesn't harm the paint.

What is the cost of painting a bedroom 10 x 12 feet. ceilings, walls and woodwork?
it depends on where you buy it. if you buy it at a place like lowe's, then it might be a little more expensive... say for 2 cans it might be $30 or less. so it all depends on where you buy it what size can you get, and how much of it you get!
What color should I paint my 2 L shape walls?
I have painted a piece of furniture orange and added a tropical french style picture. The picture has a lot of orange, red, browns, and some aqua blues and greens. Rod Iron dining table with bright orange, yellow, pink fabric, (small seats). What wall color will go and make a statement? I want this little dining room to have style with fun added in the mix. I am designing on a dime. What color should I paint my 2 L shape walls?
If your walls are relatively small, get quart sized cans of colors in a family (usually on the same paint chip) and paint each wall a different shade of the same color.
My bedroom has 3 light blue walls and 1 dark blue wall, and my kitchen has 3 light green walls and 1 wall that's 2 shades darker. The different shades are from the same paint card. What color should I paint my 2 L shape walls?
With all those bright colors, paint the walls off white. This will reduce the color clash and brighten up the room.

How do I get paint to stick to my walls it just peals off?
It still peals off, im thinking of sanding the walls then priming and texturizing and priming and then painting but I dont want to spend all that money if its just going to peal off again. How do I get paint to stick to my walls it just peals off?
wash the wall with TSP and water, sand, prime, paintHow do I get paint to stick to my walls it just peals off?
You weren't clear about whether the walls were new construction or painted walls. It's conceivable that (an older home) the walls were painted with and oil base paint and you tried to paint over them with a latex product.
I would consult Lowe's or Home Depot and explain to them what's happened and they will be able to provide you with the product(s) to resolve your problem. I hope that helps.
Remove as much of the peeling paint as possible, by scraping and sanding.
Prime with an oil based primer . Let dry for the amount of time recommended on the can.
Paint 2 coats with a quality latex paint, Letting each coat dry for time specified on the can.
You shouldve primed it to begin with and let it cure so that this problem would have never happenned.

I just got a brand new bed spread its brown and torquise what color should i paint my walls?
I would go with a pale version of either of the two colors... a tan or pale turquoise. You could paint one wall a darker color. If you do that I would pick the color that's least dominant in your bedspread. For instance, if your bedspread is mostly brown, I'd go with turquoise and vice versa.I just got a brand new bed spread its brown and torquise what color should i paint my walls?

How do you Remove Permanent Marker from a wall or what paint can go over it?
How do you Remove Permanent Marker from a wall or what paint can go over it? In a few days I will be helping my friend paint his room and there is Permanent Marker on his wall from when he was a kid. I am an artist and I've tried to paint over permanent marker before on canvas but it seems to come through the paint as a purplish colour. That was with Acrylic Paint.
What are some solutions to this problem. I suggested sanding his walls to get it off, but there is alot of it, and if there is an easier way, all the better.
he suggested priming the wall as well, but I'm not sure how many layers of paint will be needed before the marker does not come through and we don't have alot of time to spend repainting. We're not sure what kind of paint to use either. Probably the cheapest we can find because we're trying to save money.
Is there anything we can use to wash it off the wall or is there any kind of paint that we can buy that will not allow it to come through?
Thanks. How do you Remove Permanent Marker from a wall or what paint can go over it?
Go to your local box store and buy Kilz. It is the best stuff to use if you need to cover a large area.
Magic eraser may work too, but Kilz will cover the whole area quickly, if you have a lot of marks, you will be scrubbing for a long time. How do you Remove Permanent Marker from a wall or what paint can go over it?
Magic Eraser that thing really works magic
magic eraser or try finger nail polish remover.
try useing Mr. Clean Magic Erasers they took Paint off my car... really good if that doesnt work i donno... you might end up repainting..sorry
good luck!
Spot prime over the marker with BIN. Its a shellac base stain blocking primer. Then prime the whole room with a high quality primer. I like Benjamin Moore Fresh Start acrylic primer. Allow adequate drying time before applying any finish coats. Overnight is best. Do 2 finish coats on the ceiling, then 2 finish coats on the walls, then the trim. Use high quality brushes and rollers. Sand everything lightly with 150 grit before coating anything.
MR CLEAN mAGIC ERACER WORKS GOOD AND I DIDNT KNO PPL ACTUALTY DO THAT
Have you tried Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? You could use 2 coats of primer, maybe grey, and 2 coats of paint.
Yes, Yes, Yes, get the Magic Eraser.
It works by basically sanding the surface that you are ';erasing'; but it is such a light sanding that it (usually) does not remove the surface.
It works EXCELLENT on painted walls. Just don't push too hard because sooner or later you WILL remove the paint. I did this once when I was trying to ';erase'; something that was actually a ding in the wall- the ding went right through all the paint.
They say not to use it on glossy surfaces because it will dull them but I have had luck on a few glossy surfaces including the top of my chest freezer and my kitchen counter. The kitchen counter took a lot of ';erasing,'; as I needed to use more than one Magic Eraser but the thing is amazing. It's your solution, for sure.
Goo B Gone works miracles
Use the paint called Kilz. It is used to cover areas well. It is not water based so you will have to clean brushes with paint thinner. After a couple coats cover with whatever paint you want. also have you tried finger nail polish remover on the spot!

My Victorian House has dodgy green paint on the walls - is this dangerous?
My house was build in the 1880s and has a green ';wash'; of paint over the plaster on some walls. Does anyone know what this paint is and if it is harmful? Should I do anything to protect myself when I am removing it?
My Mum has a heritage paint chart with exactly the same colour on it and the colour is called ';Arsenic';! This is not inspiring! Can anyone help me?My Victorian House has dodgy green paint on the walls - is this dangerous?
It may contain lead or it could just be a milk based paint. If you go to one of the larger paint stores you should be able to buy a kit which you can test the paint with. Or if you can't find that, the paint store should tell you how to protect yourself while stripping the paint off the walls. My Victorian House has dodgy green paint on the walls - is this dangerous?
this may sound a little dumb, but since the house is old, the walls are lathe and plaster, plaster is organic, Could your dodgy green paint be old mildew and/or mold stains.
Test this theory with a solution of bleach and water.
I am a lead abatement supervisor and must insist before any renovations you test your home for lead. Lead was added to paint to improve it. It was used in high humidity areas (kitchen, bath etc.) You cannot encapsulate friction surfaces (floors, doors where they touch, windows). If you are doing renovations you should wear a respirator (about $40 for an adequate one) dont use those paper masks, they are worse than nothing if not fit properly.
If you have lead in your house, you do not need to panic. Encapaulation can be done by you. It's just another form of paint with an additive to prevent pealing and chipping. As with all things, cleanleness is the best prevention. If you are unsure, check with your local state government for programs in your area for lead abatement and interim controls.
I would not recommend removing the paint in any case, if it is wet plaster, when you try to remove the paint you will make a bigger mess. Wet sanding is best to prep the wall. Let it dry thoroughly and then put on a good primer. You can tell when you're done if when you feel the wall you cannot feel the bumps. If after priming you see imperfections, fix them before painting, much easier.
Here's a personal note, you should never paint a wet plaster wall in high humidity or when raining, for some reason the paint will not dry. If you do paint, wait until the first coat is dry (do a patch test) before applying the second coat or they will both come off the first time you put tape on the wall!
I love the word Dodgy as a definition of so many things. Smiles.
Certainly it isn't Latex based paint, though could be oil. I suggest it could contain lead, which is an issue. You state WASH however, and without testing, I certainly can't know.
After applying thousands of gallons of variously based paints, I think answer number two offers a clue as to the next step for you. Have it tested. I'd be pretty confident in the Lead in the paint, not being so critical, if it wasn't being ingested or any micro particles from it being inhaled, but it should be removed, if it has any lead in it, rather than just painting over it.
Ironic that with millions of names given to paint colors, a company would tag it with one that already creates images of death or illness. I happen to favor GREENS, but I'd choose another shade.

wear a ventilator and keep from breathing it ,, keep windows open and air flowing ,cover everything and then make sure you clean really well after.. it might not be poisoness but could be dangerous right on..
I'm confused as to what you mean by 'Remove'...here's the poop...Most dangers of Lead based paint are involving 'friction' surfaces on woodwork mostly, door frames, windows etc, which rub over time and create harmful airborne particles...., you will need to do research on how to remove it safely, there are many things you need to know before removing lead based paint, including what's called ';incapisillator'; (think it's spelled right) for eventually covering the surfaces of the woodwork not in 'friction' areas, as the paint needs to be completely from those friction areas..As for walls, just seal and repaint...
Not sure where you are located but if you are at all concerned about the safety of the paint on your walls then contact your local EPA office (or similar organization) and request information on how to properly remove or encapsulate the paint.
below are two links one about arsenic paint and the other about lead paint removal...hope it helps
YOUR ';PAINT'; IS MOST LIKELY CALCIMINE. YOU COULD MIX IT OR GET IT IN GREEN OR BLUE, I BELIEVE. WHEN APPLYING IT-IT WAS SORT OF LIKE APPLYING WHITEWASH.
ANYWAY, GIVEN THE AGE OF THE HOUSE AND THE FACT IT IS APPLIED OVER PLASTER-IT WILL BE CALCIMINE. YOU CAN READ ALL ABOUT IT IN THIS WEBSITE AND OTHERS ALSO. IN PARTICULAR THOSE ON HISTORIC HOUSES. THE LAST TIME I USED IT-ABOUT 1942.
Only if you look at it too long. LOL

LOL
Can lime green paint on a sort of bumpy wall be used as a green screen?
no there is a Special color of green you need and the area can not have anny bumps in it at all or you will see holes in the picture.
How do you remove painted stencils from wood walls?
Recently moved to new home and the bathroom has a border that was stencil painted. I would like to remove this and use another color scheme in that room. The walls are wood stained and I would like to keep them that way so I don't want to just paint over the stenciling. How do you remove painted stencils from wood walls?
If the stencilling was done over the wood stain and varnish (I'm assuming there was a varnish coat, as it's a bathroom and needs to be water resistant), you might be able to scrape the design off carefully with a paint scraper.
If not you'll have to sand it back to the wood.
If you're lucky you'll only need to do that bit, but you're more likely to find that you've got to sand back and re-stain the whole wall to match colours. This will be a pain, but can be done more quickly and easily with an electric sander which you should be able to hire from a hardware store or similar.
Remember to use a watertight final coat when you're done! How do you remove painted stencils from wood walls?
Most stenciling is done with acrylic paints. There is a product called Goofoff that might be able to help you remove the stencils without hurting the surface below. You would want to do a patch test on an out of sight part of your wall, tho before doing the stenciled area.
There are paint bo-bo remover products....internet

How to paint a wall?
Hi,
Is there a specific technique that I should do when painting a wall?
I read something about a W but I don't understand it. Can somebody explain that to me along with any tips they have.
I'm going to get somebody to do the border of wall while I am painting with roller (not too far ahead). My plan was to just go up and down with my strokes.
What should I do?
Thanks, I need answer asap. How to paint a wall?
The ';W'; you are referring to is simply that your roller pattern should simply not be perfectly up-and-down. The slight W-pattern makes sure that the roller strokes blend in together, leaving nothing but that even, slightly orange-peeled coat of paint. Keep a wet edge -- never stop painting in the middle of a wall. How to paint a wall?
im not a painter but.....all you do it tape the edges and windows and paint away. I just got done painting my sons room, easy......get a roller and do it. use a paint brush for the edges and your be fine....it may need a few coats.
the w is the shape u have to paint in to let the paint blend and not get layered.

What colour should i paint the walls???
this is the comforter set i'm using
http://www.target.com/Blue-Bird-Comforte鈥?/a>
so what colour 4 the walls??What colour should i paint the walls???
Use a light purple to make the pruple in the comforter pop. You could use the purple as an accent wall if you think it would be too, much. Also, look at the rest of the room to see if it would work. White would also work, or teal. What colour should i paint the walls???
i say either the light blue color in the comforter or the light purple color. if u use the midnight blue color it will be overwhelming but the others will look great! very pretty comforter btw! :)
I recommend the purple-lilac colour
i would use the touquois blue color. Make the room a bit cheery instead of depressing.
if you want dark go with the blue if you want light go with the teal
That is so pretty. I would use lavender paint or light aqua. You may want to consider doing an accent wall. Paint three walls lavender and one darker purple. Or three walls aqua and the focal wall (the one with your bed on it.. a darker shade... kind of like the sheet). I just painted my sons room. Three walls are gray and one is dark purple. He loves it. he calls that his ';gallery wall'; and hangs all of his art work on it.
The teal colour.
Lavender is a depressing colour because it tends to show up gray.
I think that lavender/purple color would be beautiful! you could also go with the light blue if you want to be 'safe'!

What is the fastest way to get paint and wallpaper off walls?
I'm helping my sister and brother-in-law fix up their house. The previous owner had applied wallpaper, then painted the walls. Pretty stupid, yes, but the question now is, ';How do we get the stuff off?';
Currently we've got this thick paint stripper and allowing it to soak. That only gets the paint off. Then, we take this steamer and steam the wallpaper off.
It's a huge undertaking; a big pain in the ****. We have three more rooms like this. There's got to be a faster way. What is the fastest way to get paint and wallpaper off walls?
You are doing it the best way. Keep up the good work. What is the fastest way to get paint and wallpaper off walls?
For wallpaper, the best bet is scoring it then spraying it with vinegar and water and use a scraper. It dries pretty fast so spray as you go, but it works wonders. The wallpaper will pretty much peel off. Much better than the stuff you buy at the Big Orange Place.
I think the steamer works the best you have one person steam and the others rip

Should I have the walls in my room painted with pink and white stripes or magenta?
I'm getting my room painted and I can't decide. I'm either going to do pink and white stripes with one wall magenta to make the room look bigger, OR some walls magenta and some white. Other suggestions would be good too!!Should I have the walls in my room painted with pink and white stripes or magenta?
I would get 3 walls magenta and 1 wall pink and white stripes. It's a good contrast. hope i helped! xShould I have the walls in my room painted with pink and white stripes or magenta?
i would do opposite walls magenta and the other two pink and white striped.
or even on the magenta walls, do thick white stripes.
Pink and white stripes on one wall; pink on the other three. Accessorize with the magenta.
I would do magenta and white stripes on two walls, a white wall, and a magenta wall.

Can interior wall surfaces with heavy duty nicotine film be painted without washing to prevent bleedthru?
Buy a paint called Kilz you can get it at Wal-Mart. It will cover just about anything! Its a primer and paint in one!Can interior wall surfaces with heavy duty nicotine film be painted without washing to prevent bleedthru?
Sherwin Williams Undercoater = Stain Blocker
No you do not have to wash to prime with this paint if you choose to wash walls it has to be certain kinds of wall paint are damage may occur.
The better primer over nicotine the better for stoping fulture re-paints.
Nicotine is the worst of any sapping stain if it was something else i would say yes to Kitz see warrantys on both. 10x10 room 8ft walls one gallon.
Kitz = $9.99 a gallon
Undercoater = $27.00 a gallonCan interior wall surfaces with heavy duty nicotine film be painted without washing to prevent bleedthru?
You might run into a lot of peeling paint, depending on how heavy the nicotine is. You are better off washing them with TSP, then painting. It's about the same amount of work as
doing two coats of paint.
No! done it always come on top
You don't need to spend a lot of money on Kilz. It takes some elbow grease and patience.
* First, wash the wall with 1 Tablespoon of Dawn in 3 gallons of hot water and a 1/4 cup up bleach.
* Only wash 4-5 square feet at a time.
* Then rinse the area with 3 gallons of cool water with 1 and 1/2 cups of WHITE vinegar.
Yes, you will have to change the buckets at least 3 times in a small room (12 X 12 say), and in a larger room, three buckets of each per wall.
Test an area that has the worst nicotine stain first. You will be amazed. Let the room air out and dry completely.
Use a good quality paint (thin paint will not cover well). If the walls have color, choose a good cheap flat white paint before you apply the color you want.
I agree with bubblz kilz is the best out on the market.
yes.Use Killz.

Im painting my walls a burnt orange/red color and have a sage green lounge chair. What color for the sofa?
The style I am going for is a modern eclectic look but warm and inviting. My color palette is the burnt orange asian-inspired red (walls), espresso brown (wood finish), sage green (chair). The smaller accent colors for the carpet and window treatment are warm golds, burgundies, and med-dark brown. With all these colors Im trying to figure out what color the sofa should be.Im painting my walls a burnt orange/red color and have a sage green lounge chair. What color for the sofa?
Hmm, sounds familar...I still say some sort of yellow - banana, mustard...Im painting my walls a burnt orange/red color and have a sage green lounge chair. What color for the sofa?
Wow..it should be taupe or a shade of brown. That certainly is warm and inviting.
brown would go with your autumn colours.
I would go with a nice chocolate brown. Then you could put some throw pillows that pull in the burnt orange, red and sage green.

How can I paint over deeply textured walls without hurting the look of the texture?
I don't want to fill in the depressed areas with paint to create a flat wall look... Thanks for any help you can provide! How can I paint over deeply textured walls without hurting the look of the texture?
Thick, soft paint rollers tend to do a great job on deeply textured walls, just don't overload the roller... if you do, then just spread the paint out a bit more. And, be patient! It'll come out just fine if you take your time. How can I paint over deeply textured walls without hurting the look of the texture?
yes just prime the walls with texure primer using a texured roller then let dry and paint with another texured roller
deeply textured walls can stand approx 2 coats of paint and still retain the pattern, paint it a colour you like and feel you can live with for a few years
You can use a long knapp roller or a brush, but the brush is slow ... ask someone in a paint store or a place like Home Depot for recommendations on getting the job done ... they can tell you exactly how to do it.
use a deep nap roller, 3/4'; - 1 1/2'; and dont use flat pain but an eggshell or pastel paint, on think nap texture the obsorbsion is greater and if you over roll it will be harder to paint. let it dry well between coats.

Removing paint from wall without damaging plaster?
I'm stripping the walls in our house and the wallpaper has been stuck onto paint. However in some places the wallpaper is pulling off the paint so I'm going to have to strip it all in order to then paint the plaster. How can I strip the paint without damaging the plaster underneath?Removing paint from wall without damaging plaster?
Sand the areas where the paint has come off and then prime and paint.Removing paint from wall without damaging plaster?
Why would you strip the paint? If the wall is not smooth, plaster it. Then prime it and paint over it.
If you try to strip the paint, you will damage the wall. If it's a house built before 1950 you may expose lead paint. Just paint over it.

What should I paint on my bedroom walls?
I'm thinking of doing a bunch of crazieness, no theme. So if you have any cool ideas please tell me. They can be totally random things! What should I paint on my bedroom walls?
I think you should paint your walls in a gradient (a color fading into another color) and then cut out black fabric in the shape of tree silhouettes and decoupage them over top. What should I paint on my bedroom walls?
you could do anything you could even splater paint on a diferent color paint
I recommend ';Helter Skelter'; in a reddish brown.

Should I paint my white ceramic wall tile in my bathroom or leave it white? ?
It would look horrible if you tried to paint ceramic. You would have to sand it first or the paint wouldn't stick to it. I would leave it white.Should I paint my white ceramic wall tile in my bathroom or leave it white? ?
Unless you can rough the surface of the tile with something harder than the ceramic, it isn't going to take the paint too well and in a few short weeks your hard work will simply peel right off.
Not to mention the tacky factor.Should I paint my white ceramic wall tile in my bathroom or leave it white? ?
actually, you can paint ceramic! They make paint specifically for ceramic, you can ask the paint department of your local home depot or Lowe's or I'm sure any specialty paint store would have it.
But of course the best thing to do is replace, or try sprucing up the room with new paint, towels Accessories etc...
Well, it can be done buyt requires a special primer designed to bond with ceramic tile. Prior to that you'd have to rough up the tile with 220-grit carbide sandpaper or use an acid-based deglosser. Here are the details:

Personally, I'd look for a different solution. Maybe you can jazz up the white tile by replacing a few tiles with decorative tile or adding a decorative border. Here are some ideas:

We also have white ceramic tile. I would never attempt to paint it. The humidity in a bathroom will make the paint peel eventually and look horrible. White goes with anything!

Where can I get my curtains dyed to the new colour I have painted on my walls?
I think I recall a friend of mine saying she took her drapes to a dry cleaner, and they did that ';for'; her. She just took a piece of cardboard and dabbed the color of paint on it, took it to the cleaners %26amp; said ';that'; is the color I want my drapes to be. The drapes turned out just ';slightly lighter than the walls, and my friend said it actually looked better than if it was the ';exact'; color. She was sooo happy with it. Good luckWhere can I get my curtains dyed to the new colour I have painted on my walls?
If u have light colored curtains, u can use a Rit dye to match. Any time u r doing this yourself, it may be lighter than u want. Why not try getting a sample of the paint color and go shopping for new ones. U can get affordable ones to Wal-Mart, K-Mart even the Dollar store has them. If no luck get a coordinating color to match and the room should still look great.Where can I get my curtains dyed to the new colour I have painted on my walls?
Why would you want your walls %26amp; curtains the same color?
It would be blagh!
Accent colors are best!
Put them in your washing machine with a colour of your choice ,it`s easy as long as you don`t put to much in at a time ,material that is
do it yourself in a bucket. will save you a small fortune. you can get the dye from most supermarkets
you need to go to the factory where they dye the materials
um do it yourself with the left over paint
Ask at the paint shops near you for the DIY paint and you can do it at your own home in the machine. There are special dyes to colour anything you have in any colour you want.
Buy some fabric dye..first you will need to get dressed..then open your door..walk..make your way to the nearest shop..shops are different so you will need to find a shop that sells fabric dye...go into the shop..choose the colour...pay for it....go home....put curtains in sink with warm water and fabric dye..leave for a bit...hang up to dry..then hang up curtains x
you will definately regret painting your curtains. unfortunatley, most fabric stores won't dye fabric for you because they want you to buy a bolt of new fabric. your best bet would be to dye it yourself. there are plenty of dyes offered that work in a regular washing machine. be sure to test it out on a small piece to make sure you have a good match.
do it yourself in the bath

Shame you didn't do it the other way round, then you could have had some paint made up to match the curtains. I think you would have had a better match
i'd prob just buy new ones....what if you ever want to wash them...would the color fade in the washer?

How do I successfully remove Venetian plaster paint off of my bathroom walls?
I emailed my professional friend who does nothing but Faux painting and Venitian plaster. here is her response.
Why remove it?/?Just paint over it..and / or sand it..slightly ,use a decent primer (bondable primer) and then paint..even if it has wax on it ,that should work

I painted my walls a bright yellow I don't like... how can I fix it without repainting?
What about doing a faux finish? Possibly a distressed look? If not, maybe try putting a dimmer in that room. I have a friend with bright yellow walls and with really dim lighting, it's beautiful. =)
Hope that helps.I painted my walls a bright yellow I don't like... how can I fix it without repainting?
If changing the furniture, etc. IN the room doesn't help, try tacking a large blanket, curtain, or sheet over one or more of the walls. It's a nice effect and nobody will know of the hideousness beneath it. :DI painted my walls a bright yellow I don't like... how can I fix it without repainting?
Close the drapes, turn off the lights, blindfold your guests...
Wear real dark glasses whenever you're in that room.
Try a faux finish or a wash.in a lighter color.Easy to do and not expensive.
Put up wallpaper?
Glaze it with a cream - easy and quick and gives movement to the walls.
Darker colored curtains and white furniture.
Hope that helps.I painted my walls a bright yellow I don't like... how can I fix it without repainting?

What color paint should we get for our walls?
Ok,so our carpet color is beige, and are walls are white. You see were planning on painting our walls a different color. What colors go good with beige? Were confused,we don't want brown, Because it would be too dark. So were planning on getting a bright vibrant color. What color paint should we get for our walls?
Think about your furniture in the room and colors the furniture will look good with. Never pick a color you don't like cause you might get stuck with it for a while. Just and idea.. maybe you could hang up some colored frames like from here

or just hang up posters. just an idea
hope i helped! What color paint should we get for our walls?
Just about any bright vibrant color would go with beige, but it depends on what else is in the room. If it's a living room, go with a darker or lighter shade than the furniture. For a bedroom, choose a shade from your comforter. Teal, sage green, salmon, ...the possibilities are endless.
maybe a plum or dark purple color. or turquoise.. dark red. thats what i would pick

Does anyone know what ';Ain't got no how watchamacallit'; mean? Kurt Cobain spray painted on a wall.
Whatever the random ramblings of a heroin addict with mental instability could mean.........Does anyone know what ';Ain't got no how watchamacallit'; mean? Kurt Cobain spray painted on a wall.
I think its slang for ';I don't have ... .... What do you call it?'; A statement that says he doesn't have the thing you want, he doesn't even know what you call it or what it is... thats my guess.....

How can I best wash my walls? The landlord used cheap paint or maybe it's just a base coat but I like to wash
the walls at least once a month to remove all the fingerprints that accumalate on the doors, around light switches etc, but it's like the dirt smudges have soaked into the wall or something because not everything will wash off. I currently use Mr.Clean and a liitle bleach mixed together, but it doesn't clean all dirt smudges off.How can I best wash my walls? Try White vinegar and hot water. How can I best wash my walls? The landlord used cheap paint or maybe it's just a base coat but I like to wash
Buy a bar of Octagon Soap and make a good soapy solution with water. It take some of the worst marks including ink and crayon off of wall plus cuts through grease. All you need otherwise is a good rag and elbow grease.
mr clean magic erasers work the best for walls. They take off markers, crayons, grease, and those nasty little fingerprints that you swear you got off but somehow in a different light they came back!
**** and span works good, but follow the label directions. For oily spots try a solution of TSP (tri sodium phosphate) this is available in paint or hardware stores. Just use rubber gloves to protect you hands.
Try spicnspan. Great for walls and floors.
Yahoo won't let the the word show. How weird.
I typed in a website so you will know what I mean. Yahoo won't let the web page show neither. The link is dead, no need of trying it.
Murphy's Oil is very good for walls, wood, etc.
You should not mix bleach with any other cleaning products.
Have you tried the Mr. Clean magic erasers? Everything in my house is white and I haven't had a problem yet getting all the dirt and finger smudges off my walls, doors, entryways, appliances, etc. Hope this helps.
Get a product called Soilax, usually can get it at hardware stores.
magic eraser!! It is great!
depending on HOW long you have lived there You can do 2 things really
1. if You have lived in the Flat for a very short period of time than speak to the Landlord about fresh Paint at His expense.
2. if they are Your smudges and prints Most likely You will need to Paint with a higher grade of Paint that is washable.
Most drywall is hard to wash, Most times the paint will wipe off like chalk. and leave the area you washed with a yellow tent or Gray. try calling your local Home improvement store and ask for the Paint department and they will be more than glad to help, and may even have a special cleaner.
Best of luck

Mr. CLean Magic eraser works really well!
Try using for the dirt smudges, the Mr. Clean eraser- I've used it and loved it so much I almost went and cleaned my brothers house who has 5 kids..Thank god I came to my senses..lol Anyways if that don't seem to work try using awesome, rubber gloves, and warm water-spray the area first w/awesome,then wipe down -do it one section at a time as it will run. Both are my favorite deep cleaning item's.
oh yeah one more thing you can buy awesome at any dollar tree for a dollar. It's cheap but works!
there is a product called PST ....it works great on walls
A product called TSP is what we use in smoke and fire damage restoration, it cleans great but it sounds like you have a flat base finish on your walls, not much you can do. I would suggest re-painting with an oil base finish (washable finish), semi-gloss etc...

My kitchen tiles are dark blue and white, i want to paint the walls any suggestions for colour....?
Oh, you have many choices with those colors. Blue and white look great with yellows, other blues, some greens, and even some reds and oranges. I've had my kitchen Blue, Yellow and White for about a year now and get so many compliments on it. I have kind of a French theme going with accessories. My kitchen tiles are dark blue and white, i want to paint the walls any suggestions for colour....?
Really hard to advise you without seeing your kitchen, its layout, what lighting, natural or not that it has and what your units and appliances are like. However, with tiles that are dark blue and white, you could use either colour on the walls, which would be quite dramatic. Using white would be quite mediterranean, a soft creamy yellow would be more sophisticated, whereas a strong sunshine yellow would be again, more mediterranean. You could use a lighter blue on the walls and then pick out a feature wall with the dark blue and use this colour to accessorise around the kitchen. Get some colour charts from a DIY store and see what grabs your eye, and then work out if it will suit the existing tiles. Dont forget, tile pain in many different colours is now widely available, easy to use (very) and lasts well and looks like the tiles were meant to be that colour. That way, you can paint the walls any colour you want, and paint the tiles to match. My kitchen tiles are dark blue and white, i want to paint the walls any suggestions for colour....?
I'd give the 10 to answer 1. First of all, I might ask what color the counter tops are, and the trim work, if any, but to introduce more color into the kitchen isn't neccesary, other than accents. A kitchen can be elegant while not looking like you've over done some color scheme.
Actually for a striking effect you can match the Blue of the tile, and paint it on one wall, surrounded by the suggested color.
Among many other things I do, I paint, every day of my life, and I use SATIN exclusively, even in kitchens and baths. It has a low level sheen, but endures a lot of abuse, and allows an easy cleanup. I'm not at all in favor of Semi-Gloss on walls, but that's a personal choice.

Just my 2 ';sense';
i suggest a white because alot of white makes the room look bigger and the blue makes it look nice so a nice clean white :)
In my opinion I would pick either white, cream or an eggshell blue. But then again you can't go wrong with picking white.
How about just white..................... it will look nice %26amp; clean but not too clinical because you have the dark blue tiles.
make your wall,s a light colour to make your kitchen bright .and blind`s to match the wall`s
antique white.
I would keep it a neutral colour, off white or cream.
Light blue goes well with dark blue and you can get good tile paint now if you would rather change them
Look around your kitchen and don't have any more than three colours
Pale green.
Try yellow. It sounds goofy, but it really is clean looking.

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:
http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/
I think ';great green'; (# 6430) would look terrific.
You can also take a photo of your house %26amp; upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You could go with a red, a sage green or a sky blue. It depends on what effect you're looking for.
http://www.colourlovers.com/img/901F0F/2鈥?/a> would be nice if you're looking for a romantic or bold look. You could add in bronze accents.
http://www.colourlovers.com/img/AFCCA8/2鈥?/a> would be nice for a peaceful sanctuary feel. I would add in some french vanilla or pale yellow accents.
http://www.colourlovers.com/img/D2E7F7/2鈥?/a> would be nice if you want a fun, contemporary look. More browns and blues would make the room fun.
Well if you want to be aestheticaly correct, then you should use any hues of red %26amp; its variants, since brown/tan/coffee is a combinatination of red %26amp; black, so any shades of red and red-black will look agreeably correct...use one of those mentioned above which you like most.
I think that the aproach is wrong, the question should be what color should i buy my bedspread with this color on the walls... anyway, i guess i'll use a very pale yellow, maybe straw, maybe going crazy a white with a vague blue,
pink. Both pink and chocolate and blue and chocolate are really ';in'; looks right now. Check this out: http://www.beyond-bedding.com/unique-pin鈥?/a>
I would go with a bright color and use accent pillow/accessories to bring it all together. Like a baby blue, or a limey/apple green. Or pale pink would work too.
';Blue Heather'; or ';Silver Mist'; from Benjamin Moore.
I think a light blue would be pretty also
I would do white.
a pretty sky blue
a cream, or a really light subtle blueinternet

You can get color suggestions %26amp; for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
If you paint them a light or medium shade of grey, they'll be trendy and modern. The best part is you can make your decor pop by accenting with vibrant colors and you can change the look of your room simply by rotating the accessories. Some terrific accent colors include: lime green, azalea pink, turquoise blue, red, yellow, lavender or purple.
Well, I personally like blue and chocolate brown, if your tired of baby blue you could paint a couple of walls brown and it will make for a more modern and older-looking room. Or you could paint two walls bright green if you like bright colours.
You could try wall paper like these:
http://blogs.propertyfinder.com/outthere鈥?/a>
http://www.imageandstylenews.com/wp-cont鈥?/a>
^^ I love this one. It is blue with a touch of brown and some wild zebra prints to spice it up a bit. I like the circles on the wallpaper too.
If you like BRIGHT colours you could try all sorts of things
-Purple
-Red
-Orange
-Green
-Yellow
-Pink
Some combinations that might look good are
-Pink and orange
-Green and blue
-Orange and red.
If you want to do a combination you could have one colour on the top half of the walls, a white stripe in the middle then another colour on the bottom. Or you could put painting tape in the shape of an X on your walls then paint the top and bottom halves of the X one colour and the left and right a different colour.
If your into darker, less vibrant colour you could try these:
-Deep red
-Brown
-Tan
-Grey
-Black
-White
-Dark blue
-Teal
-Dark purple
-Light purple
-Gold
Some combinations could be
-Red and tan
-Black and white
-Teal and brown

You say you have a black dresk. Red goes very well with black. Paint your walls red and have black and white furniture and bed covers. Those colors look great together!
Try a taupe or cactus sage. Both will set off the coloration of your furniture and are easy to accessorize with this years new fashions and colors.
How about green? Its a soothing color and I think it goes well with the furniture you have I have a Malm bed and dresser too :)
Try some kind of Purple! That would look nice!

What is the meaning of '; Post No Bill'; painted on the walls along the street ?
This signage i have often seen in the walls along the street, public and private walls among others. What is the meaning of '; Post No Bill'; painted on the walls along the street ?
Means you shouldnt be putting signs up. Like advertismentsWhat is the meaning of '; Post No Bill'; painted on the walls along the street ?
It means that you shouldn't tack a whole bunch of money on that wall because it would encite a riot and people might get hurt in the stampede.
It simply means that NOTHING is to be posted .
';Bill'; means handbill and it is a poster or advertisement, usually dealing with movies or theater shows, but could be anything, even bumper stickers. In New York City the problem was such that poles supporting traffic lights and street lamps would be completely covered with various small notices and scraps of paper. With time these things tend to become partly unstuck and the light pole looks like a vertical trash heap. Last year I noticed that these poles had been resurfaced to a height of about 8 feet in a black, bumpy stucco-like paint that has a slighly slippery surface to which it is absolutely impossible to adhere any sort of sticky paper, and it seems to work very well. The ';post no bills'; stencilling on the temporary plywood enclosures erected around construction sites are usually cover in short order with movie posters. ';Post no bills'; translates to ';Paste your poster here';.
it means ';don't put any flyers or posters on this wall';
It means that no one can put up an advertisement there.

Turquoise goes well with lime green. Have you considered white furniture? If you use the hot pink as an accent color (not too, too much) it could look really good with the lime. Don't forget to get mirrors!Im Painting My Walls Lime Green What Else Would Go With It?
Hey you are making very nice colour combination..green and black looks very nice...also you can go with lime green colour with black matt finishing furniture鈥檚 with hot shiny red or orange bed covers, pillow and curtains. With black flower vase and red and green flowers....
How about white furniture? White goes well with any colour and it won't clash with the wooden floor. It also looks clean and modern. Try argos or IKEA for some bargains.
chocolate brown would look fantastic with lime green and pink, if you have an IKEA, they have dark brown furniture kind of like the glossy black
Use light blue, white and brown. Don't use too much pink. Black furnitur ewould look good, but white would be better.
Navy blue would look best with it.
I was going to say vomit, but he got there first.

A neighbour has painted outside wall with anti climb paint. can they do this. my child is covered in it?
the wall is on the street and my child just touched it as we walked by and he is now covered ,it spreads loads. one new karate suit needed! is it lawful to paint where it can get on anyone?A neighbour has painted outside wall with anti climb paint. can they do this. my child is covered in it?
Anti-climb paint
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anti-Climb Paint (also known as Anti-Vandal Paint) is the term for a class of paint which is highly thixotropic and is often used to prevent climbing of objects such as lampposts, walls or fences... To avoid the general public being affected by it, it is usually applied from a certain height, and not directly from ground level. Typically it is applied from a height of 2 to 2.5 metres above the ground.
****It is illegal to use this paint below 2 metres from the ground in many jurisdictions. It often contains the carcinogen benzene and the manufacturers are required to produce appropriate COSHH data sheets in the UK. ****
Usually a sign is also posted with it declaring that Anti-climb paint is being used as a further deterrent. It has a useful lifetime of around 2 years, after which a fresh coat is recommended.A neighbour has painted outside wall with anti climb paint. can they do this. my child is covered in it?
it sounds like its not a case of can they do this its they have done if they own the wall then i cant see them having done any wrong but if it is a public wall or council property then they shouldnt be modifying it or decorating it in anyway its not their property to touch in the first place hope this helps
when the child first';touched the paint wasn't there an indication the paint was wet? seems one little touch caused quite a lot of damage, I'll just say, I'd be a tough sell on the jury, haven't taught your child to keep his being off others property, eh!
They can do this if it is on their property/house. They aren't obligated to put up a sign, tell you or owe you for a new karate suit - buy a new suit and move on.
I can't see how if your child just touched the wall then he is covered in this paint. As it wasn't his wall what was he touching it for in the first place.
Where is personal responsibility hey?
Yes sue them, for you not teaching your kids correct behaviour!
no to my understanding not just anyone can paint anti vandel paint its like you cant put barbed wire up on your own property
i hope you child did not leave marks on that poor neighbour's wall.
Sorry Luv but you cant say ';just'; touched it and is now ';covered'; in it.It doesn't make sense.
As long as they paint on their own property they can.
its never the childs fault is it?,, why you letting your child go near or climb somebody elses wall?
Dont see its a problem as long as there is a warning
Ask the city government if this is legal. Is it his property?
Lol
Have you asked your neighbour if they would be so kind as to compensate you for the damaged clothing? That would be my first approach. If no joy, write by recorded delivery or advice of posting (free) asking the same and keep a copy.
Next step is to advise that you will seek legal advice and may take action to recover damages and legal costs in the Small Claims court (keep copies). If this doesn't work. Start a claim. The advice is on the net.
Also ask your local Environmental Health Officer as they may well take a dim view of this material being adjacent to a public area.

Cool college decor? (bedding,lighting,paint colors,sitting,wall art,posters, anything!!)?
what are some cool stuff for a college students apartment, she can paint it if she wants and hang anything up. Any paint color ideas?? or cool stuff she can put in it? anything! websites???Cool college decor? (bedding, lighting, paint colors, sitting, wall art, posters, anything!!)?
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to help you imagine how the colors will look together. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think ';august moon'; (# 7687) might be a good choice.
You can take a photo of your house %26amp; upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:
http://www.roomvues.com/
You can get color suggestions %26amp; for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.Cool college decor? (bedding, lighting, paint colors, sitting, wall art, posters, anything!!)?
Go Crazy, express yourself, decorate the ceiling, wallpaper the bathroom in posters, create candleabras out of dolls painted gold, Think of it as a collage, and begin collecting things that feel expressive of how you want to live now and what you love. I recommend using nature, seashells, or large treebranches set into a ceramic pot. Rock your music. Thrift stores have amazing vintage lamps for a song, and get yourself decent seating. Once you have collected enough, you will know what color to paint. You are cool! Express yourself!
I love this site; check it out!

I want to paint my wall shelves I need help with the paint and color please!?
Hi, I have two wall shelves that I'm planing to put in my bedroom I want to paint them a nice color I'm having trouble choosing the paint color because I just recently bought a new comforter set they have gold and burgandy designs on them but the burgandy has a redish look from the picture online I bought them from so I'm thinking maybe I should wait till they come and for the painting do I need a special kind of gloss to go on them do I paint it first then apply the gloss on it or is it the other way around this is my first time doing this thank you for your help.I want to paint my wall shelves I need help with the paint and color please!?
So the shelves can stand the test of time and not chip, I'd go with an enamel paint. The best color to use with the red and gold woulkd be black for your shelves. I would use oil-base flat, or stain or semigloss. They can be picked up at walmart in cans by the spray paint. Use a paint brush, not a roller and paint them laying flat. Start at one corner and paint down all the way to the bottom using long paint strides. then go immediately next to it and continue til at the end. You will need to wait 24 hrs. between each coat so start now. Do not try to cover in one coating you will end up with drip marks and pools on the shelve. it will take two or three coats. Good luck and remember to clean your brushes with paint thinner between coats. Good LuckI want to paint my wall shelves I need help with the paint and color please!?
You can spray the shelves with high gloss spray paint which dries relatively quickly. Either black, white or gold would be good choices for the shelves. You can also use high gloss enamel paint. It isn't necessary to top coat them, but you can for extra shine. Hope this helps.internet

What color to paint my walls?
I have dark auburn end tables, coffee table, and couches with an entertainment center that is a dark brownish color and I just have no clue what color to paint. Whatever paint color I choose to use has to flow through the whole house as it is a very open floor plan. The whole house is tile and it is a brown/tan coloring. Any suggestions please???What color to paint my walls?
sage green or butter cream goes well with the brown family, u can go different shades n tones depending on which room/wall your painting.
for testing these colors go to the hobby store/dept n get some of the craft paint - these little bottles go a long way in covering an area so u can decide on what color family u want to go with.
good luckWhat color to paint my walls?
I would go for a romantic red for the dining room, a comforting brown and white colour for the lounge, a shiny black colour for the kitchen, a calm relaxing blue for the bathroom and it depends on what kind of person you are to paint your bedroom. I think brown and blue go well together.
I am only 12 and I wanna be an interior designer when I am older!
hope this helped!

A light sage would be the perfect contrast with all the dark furniture/tiles,
especially since green is a earth tone it coordinates with all colors so it
will flow through your home.

What can I add to regular paint to make my walls litterally shimmer and sparkle?
It seems that I saw a product a few years back that you could add to a can of paint to create an almost glittery shimmer effect. I don't remember where, and I can't seem to locate it on the internet. Maybe I'm calling it the wrong things? What can I add to regular paint to make my walls litterally shimmer and sparkle?
Perhaps you did see something that was an 'add-in' of glitter of some sort for paint..if there is such a thing your local paint distributor would know about it... if there is not, then it is going to be a two-step process, as has already been mentioned.
Glitter is sold in any construction supply store, in various colors and numerous size grades. The knack of 'timing' the paint tack, with the glitter application is going to be the crux of whether it looks as you have hoped it would.
The more dampness {called 'slump'..} ther is between the glitter, and the paint application, the more of the glitter sticks to it... the dryer the slump, the less glitter will stick..ya see..?
Incidentally, the air pressure blowing the glitter onto the wall will have an affect on the paint's drying time, so , once you start, try not to gain on the paint applications laps-time, or you will be applying glitter to different degrees of dry-times..and it will adhere to the wall differently, as the tacky-ness changes..ya see..?
It's going to be like a 'dance' with paint, glitter, application, and apply-er... sounds like fun, to me... good luck with it all, and try to do an area like a whole wall at once...that's where you will get the timing figured out... it might be you will need a paint apply-er, and a glitter apply-er, following one another in close proximity...maybe not..
Last tip... there will be abundance of glitter that will wind up on the floor, so do a good floor mask-off pryor to staring...save your self a LOT of work, later..cleaning it up.
Have fun..!What can I add to regular paint to make my walls litterally shimmer and sparkle?
Paint stores sell paint with a pearlescent finish.
I know a girl that had her walls freshly painted and then took sparkle powder and had it blown onto the walls and ceiling before they were dry......you can do it with a piece of cardboard folded in the center to use as a reservoir for the powder and then using a hair dryer direct it onto the walls try a very little at first till you get the correct distance......absolutely enchanting....oh and do the painting and shimmering in small increments....and yes it holds up well
add some glitter and mix well.
pearlized glaze or metallic glaze
You can always add some glitter to the paint this will add glimmer to your walls, I have seen this done and it looks very nice, you can try this effect out by painting a small piece of wood and holding it up to the wall you are planning on painting with this effect then walking away about a yard or two and then you can visualize how it will look before making a mistake of painting with that glittery paint. Good Luck !
I did this a few years ago and my ceiling still sparkles. You know that spray for your hair at Halloween that puts glitter in your hair? (not the kind with color). Paint the walls and when its still wet, spray it with that. You have to do one wall at a time (I did half a wall), but its ALOT cheaper than anything else and its lasted my husband and I almost 5 years.

I have windows on two walls in my bedroom. Should I paint those walls darker or lighter than the other walls?
Not necessarily. But it makes sense to paint a room that gets a lot of light a little darker. Or maybe it's better to say that it is O.K. to paint a brightly lit room a little darker. But if I were set on having two colors in that room, I would paint those walls with the windows lighter than the other walls, since the walls with windows will be darker than the walls that the light shines on from the windows.I have windows on two walls in my bedroom. Should I paint those walls darker or lighter than the other walls?
Neither. It's a lot easier to change window treatment than to repaint walls when you get tired of the color.I have windows on two walls in my bedroom. Should I paint those walls darker or lighter than the other walls?

I have a blue and green striped bedset should i paint my walls midnight blue?
i have a small room and my friend told me that dark walls make your room look even smaller. Help?????I have a blue and green striped bedset should i paint my walls midnight blue?
Small room = light colors. You'll regret using dark colors in a small room. We have a couple large rooms (26 x 30 and 20 x 26) that have been painted forest green and barn red. It helps make a big room cozy.
We let our daughter paint her bedroom and she chose a dark chalky blue and it's horrible.
Pick a light color that compliments your current bedding but gives you some flexibility to change your bedding and window treatments in the future.I have a blue and green striped bedset should i paint my walls midnight blue?
Dark walls - especially that dark - will make your room look a lot smaller. Also, it will make things much more difficult if you want to repaint later. Generally speaking, it will take at least two extra coats to cover a dark color.
I would recommend picking up paint samples and seeing how they look with the lighting in your room. See if you can find a lighter color that you like as much - your room will feel bigger than with the dark color, and it will be easier to change if you want a different look!
Way too dark and you will feel like you are in a cocoon. If that is the look you want then do it. I just don't think you will like it. Choose the color of your room to be more neutral. When you tire of the blue and green bedding, you won't have to repaint to make the new work. Decorate with color through your accessories instead. Add a great colorful large area rug, pillows, artwork. Those are easy to trade out when you want different bedding colors. Walls aren't.
Don't do it! Dark paint does make small rooms seem smaller. Also, think if you ever want to repaint that room it'll take one coat of primer, then probably 2 more coats of paint. I would go and get paint samples and find something that matches. Can you go a few shades light of midnight blue?

I find it difficult to believe that a layer of anything that thickness is going to have any effect at insulating.
Condensation is caused by damp in the air.
Might be better off getting a dehumidifier.
B AND Q sell quite a range.
there are paints available that have antifungicides in them but it only slows the build up of mould not stop it. you need to find the source of the problem and treat the cause not the symptom.ps are you sure that it is condensation and not dampness? if condensation then it should be fixable by better ventilation ,if dampness it could be water penetration from somewhere outside leaking in
we've used anti fungal paints and they've worked well for quite a while then needing repainting before
i have used aproduct on numerous occasions called seculate, which like all anti condensation paint.has fine particles of cork in them.however, although they work and quite effectively you should still make sure you have plenty of ventilation and air circulation to your flat to assist in condensation happening

Is there a way to wash the walls that'll reveal the earlier paint?
I know that with some paints, if you scrub the wall, they tend to smear off like chalk. In one room, there's a light blue paint and the older paint is darker blue. I think I want to wash the walls down and achieve a 'speckled' effect with the darker blue showing through. Problem is, the paint is years old so it's not something new or recent. Is there a way to wash the walls that'll reveal the earlier paint?
i would try sanding an inconspicuous spot and see if that gives you the desired effect....

What's the best way to remove smudges etc. from my walls that have a flat latex paint?
I have tried to remove marks from the walls of my home but don't want to use harsh cleaners as this might remove the paint. I don't want to have to repaint at this time. Any ideas for getting rid of them? What's the best way to remove smudges etc. from my walls that have a flat latex paint?
You can try a magic eraser, sold in cleaning supplies at the grocery store. Problem is your paint is a flat finish. Rub gently at first as not to remove the paint from the wall completely. If and when you repaint, use an eggshell or semi gloss paint, they clean up much easier. What's the best way to remove smudges etc. from my walls that have a flat latex paint?
Magic Eraser. It won't damage your walls and it's a miracle smudge remover.

What kind of paint do i need to paint my living room walls matt or silk?
I prefer Matt but some people prefer silk reason you can wash silk
but you cannot wash matt. What kind of paint do i need to paint my living room walls matt or silk?
It will depend on what kind of paint you already have on the walls and how much work you're willing to do...if you have a glossy paint already on the walls, you can paint them with another glossy paint but if you want a different finish (matte or eggshell), you'll have to lightly sand the walls otherwise the new paint will peel or rub off. What kind of paint do i need to paint my living room walls matt or silk?
It just personal choice.
Silk gives a sheen to the walls and marks can be wiped off easier, good if you have children in the house.
Matt is more of a dense colour with no sheen. I prefer to use matt.
You can use either on the ceiling.
Skirting boards look good painted with either gloss, or satin wood paint.
Very rare for anyone to use silk on living rooms walls. Matt is the norm.
On the woodwork you need to ask in the shop or look on the tins. You can either undercoat then gloss or undercoat then satin. And yes, you do need undercoat the first time with satin.
You can use either colour depends what finish you want for your walls.I would use emulsion on the walls and gloss on the woodwork,if the woodwork is bear and has not been painted before, you have to prime it then undercoat then the finish coat.
i don't like the shine of silk paint when the light is on it...so i have matt walls.
as for wood...i like an eggshell finish which again, is not as shiney as gloss.
It is entirely up to you. Silk emulsion you can wipe clean better. Matt emulsion you can give a light wipe but you may leave a shiny mark. I prefer silk emulsion.
Silk is for Bathrooms and Kitchens. Matt is for all the rest.
