What color should I paint my two storie walls?

We have a living room that has lots of windows and a two story ceiling but the wall extends over the cat walk stairs into the dining room wich is only 13x13.but from the cat walk down the rooms are seperated. We have brown leather couches and redish brown hardwood floors. So I want to make the living area feel cozy but Im afraid that a dark color will make the dinning area seem smaller. Any suggestions would be great. What color should I paint my two storie walls?
Paint it a nice toupe .It's a rich color and warm. What color should I paint my two storie walls?
purple and pink stripes with yellow splatters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dark colors will indeed make a room postage stamp in size. Idea # 1: Stick with something in the beige tones. Maybe a color that is one shade darker than your couches or one shade lighter. Neutral tones would look really nice %26amp; keep the room spacious. Your best bet is to go to the paint department of Lowes or somewhere that sells paint, %26amp; select some paint samples. Take them home %26amp; hold them up to your furniture %26amp; floors. Read the info on the back of the paint sample to see what color the paint base is.

Idea # 2: I think a real pretty light celery green or a light sage green, or a seafoam green would also look nice, keep your room spacious, %26amp; add warmth to the room as well. If you go that route, go with the lightest color green of the two I mentioned. It would break up the color of the couches %26amp; floor.

Have fun! :)
A GOLDEN COLOR MIGHT LOOK GOOD
like a peachy kind of color. or a light hazel.
