I have oak cabintes and a yellowish square tileI want to paint my kitchen walls red what color red looks good in a kitchen?
I think so..but just paint one wall..main one you see when you walk into the room. If you paint them all you will make your kitchen appear alot smaller, the ';cave affect.';
My neighbor has one wall painted red and the ';chef'; theme...very cute!I want to paint my kitchen walls red what color red looks good in a kitchen?
Perfect Color for a Kitchen... Red's bring warmth %26amp; harmony... I chose ';Dutch Boy'; #R042.... turned out fantastic! Oh, Wal-Mart paint is pretty darn good stuff! AND I too did the one accent wall...
Go get some paint chips at your local hardware store %26amp; see what color you like best in your room. It is nice to see them in the store, but your lighting is different %26amp; the color may not look the same. I got dozens of them, took them home to look %26amp; did not pick the one I liked best at the store. I used dark burgandy, but Left the ceiling white to avoid the cave look. If you use a good tinted primer, 1 coat will cover.
I have also heard of using fabrics and/or scrapbooking pages to judge how a color will look. If you have a shirt in the color you think you want, tack or taoe it to the wall or back splash and stand back %26amp; look. If you like it Home Depot does color matching for paint %26amp; will match it to whatever you have.

They have interior rooms and color palets, you can paint the walls any color and it will suggest trim colors, or you can chose your own. I used this to paint the exterior of my house and it worked out very well.
My daughter has just painted her kitchen red, I was very dubious, but I was pleasantly surprised, it is beautiful!! she used Firecracker red, and got the man in the DIY shop (Homebase I think) to make it up in a kitchen paint.Mind you she has very light wood cabinets and black worktops, she kept one wall a very pale cream. If you have your mind set on red.. go for it! if you dont like you can always paint over it, or you could get a matchpot and test it first.
My opinion...burgandy/wine. But only if you have some natural light, otherwise it might be too dark.
I tried that, thought it would be really cool.
It turned out very, very wrong and was hell painting over it because it kept bleeding through.
Red didn't work for me.
